Discovery Call

The discovery call is a 10-minute complimentary virtual visit to learn more about the services and programs. We will discuss the frequency of visits, pricing, expectations, and any general questions you may have. This is not a visit during which medical decisions or recommendations will be discussed, and a doctor-patient relationship is not established. Before scheduling a discovery call, it is best to review the FAQs on the home page.
Shoemaker Protocol®

The Shoemaker Protocol® is a step-by-step approach to evaluating and treating multisymptom, multisystem illness resulting from biotoxin exposure, such as water-damaged buildings, chronic Lyme disease, long-COVID, and other biotoxins. It remains the only treatment protocol in which each step is supported by evidence-based, peer-reviewed research. Evaluation for Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS) may include a symptom assessment, a Visual Contrast Sensitivity (VCS) test, bloodwork, home/workplace testing, NeuroQuant MRI analysis, and genomic testing (GENIE). Evaluation and treatment with the Shoemaker Protocol may be applied during the initial consultation and subsequent visits. Learn more about CIRS by visiting the blog and the Biotoxin illness subheading.
Initial Consultation

The initial consultation is a comprehensive telehealth visit. We discuss your life history, evaluate your primary health concerns, determine appropriate laboratory tests, review your previous lab results, and discuss treatment options. Your first visit will take 60 minutes. The cost of the initial consultation is $450. After your consultation, you will receive a detailed email summary with your "homework."
If you would like a family member to be present during your visit, they may join the virtual appointment.
Subsequent Visits

Follow-up telehealth visits are scheduled in 30- or 60-minute increments based on your needs. During these appointments, we review new laboratory results, adjust supplement recommendations as needed, provide detailed nutrition and lifestyle guidance, and personalize your treatment plan based on your progress. Follow-up visits typically occur every few weeks to several months, as appropriate. Visits are billed at $450 per hour and prorated according to the time used; for example, if a 60-minute visit is scheduled but only 30 minutes are needed, the fee is $225.
Labs / Additional Labs

At your initial visit, laboratory testing will be discussed and ordered as appropriate to your care plan. Testing may include:
-
Blood draws at a traditional laboratory
-
Mobile phlebotomy services (a phlebotomist comes to your home; a separate fee applies)
-
Hospital phlebotomy services
-
At-home collection kits (finger-prick dried blood spot, urine, saliva, nasal, stool, or breath testing)
Additional testing may be recommended later as treatment progresses, or may be requested by you.
Labs drawn and processed through conventional laboratories (e.g., Quest) may be covered by your insurance plan, depending on your benefits.
Functional medicine specialty laboratories (including advanced vector-borne infection testing) are generally not covered by insurance, and patients should expect to pay out of pocket. However, patients with Medicare may have limited coverage for certain functional medicine laboratory tests, depending on the specific test and Medicare processing guidelines.
Supplements

Nutritional supplements and nutraceuticals may be recommended to provide targeted support while you make the nutrition and lifestyle changes needed to improve your health. Botanical and nutritional protocols may also be used to address chronic infections, either alongside conventional antibiotics or, when clinically appropriate, as an alternative approach. All recommended products are available through Fullscript, which provides convenient access to high-quality supplements from trusted professional brands. Fullscript carefully screens the products available through its platform for ingredient quality, purity, potency, accurate dosing, and independent third-party testing for contaminants and undeclared ingredients.
Record Review

Review of laboratory results completed within the past year is included in your initial consultation. If the volume of laboratory data requires review beyond the time normally allotted, an additional fee will apply, prorated at Dr. Daecher’s hourly rate.
Please upload all laboratory results to the patient portal as PDF files before your appointment. This allows your consultation time to be used as effectively as possible.
Review of older laboratory results or extensive medical records is also billed according to the time required for review and summarization. Electronic records in PDF format are strongly preferred.

High-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters capture 99.97% of particles as small as 0.3 microns. AirOasis® iAdaptAir purifiers have been tested to reduce particles down to 0.05 microns, which is significantly smaller than standard HEPA capacity. For this reason, they are commonly recommended by Shoemaker-trained physicians as a preferred air filtration option.
